Grandma Carlene's Quiche

My Mom's Mom, Grandma Carlene, always seems to make this when we have Christmas dinner at her house each year :) I love it! And had a craving for it haha It's perfect for my breakfasts to have before work at the t-shirt factory, too, because I can eat in on the road :)

This recipe makes 2 pies!

2 Pie crusts
Enough ham or bacon to cover the bottom of pie crust (sliced)
Grated swiss cheese to cover meat
 4 eggs
1tbs flour
½ tsp salt
Sprinkle nutmeg
Sprinkle cayenne or pepper
 2 c half n half
1 ½ tbs melted butter

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and place oven rack on the very bottom slot.

Mix ingredients 4-8 together. Mix last 2 ingredients, then add into wet flour mixture.
Pour into pie shell to the top of the pan
May have leftover
Bake for 40 min ON THE BOTTOM RACK

Chocolate Chip Cookies Part Dos

After coming home from a fun night with friends, it's always nice to have a late night snack that you're so proud of you have to take a picture of it! Here is Nestle's mint hot chocolate with some mini marshmallows and Hershey's chocolate chip cookie recipe. We used the new Hershey's melts in the cookies and they are fun and different, but I think I prefer actual chocolate chips :) I also had to add like 4 extra cups of flour, because they were thin as paper!! My daddio likes em like that, but I prefer fluffy cookies :)

Chocolate Chip Cookies

It's Super Sweet Sugar Study Day! Which oddly enough, wasn't that sugarish haha We very quickly got sick of treats, soooo we ended up with a ton of extra cookies :P Good thing we get to get rid of them at FHE!
Thank you Stephanie and your fam for this awesome recipe!
3 c flour
¾ tsp salt
¾ tsp baking soda
2 sticks butter
¾ c sugar
1 c brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and soda; set aside. In another bowl, mix butter, sugars, vanilla, and eggs. Mix flour and butter mixtures together. Add chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 17-22 min.

Pretzel Time

Tis the season to be Jolly! And fat :) As usual, for my Christmas presents I make my good friends, I made chocolate covered pretzels. Usually I just dip them in semi-sweet chocolate, then drizzle some white chocolate over them, but this time I decided to be fancy! I got some white and milk chocolate flavored almond bark (which is so much nice to melt than using chocolate chips), the crushed up oreos and candy canes! The candy canes I sprinkled over the white chocolate pretzels and the oreos I did over the milk chocolate. They were a sweet success! Merry Christmas my friends!

White Hot Chocolate and Carrot Cake

It's fancy dancing time! Today was the Institute Fall Formal and because my house is so cool, we had a giant group :) While I was working, the other girls were awesome and made a delicious spaghetti dinner with sauce, salad, and garlic bread :) After we were done dancing the night away, we came back to the house for some strangely yummy white hot chocolate (k it only says 1 tsp of vanilla, but we ended up putting in like 1 1/2 TBS haha just go by the taste you like!) and some freaking FANTASTIC carrot cake that Ben and I made :) Now, that's what I call a sweet success :)

Shepard's Pie

It's Halloween time!!! And you know what that means? Yes. Shepard's Pie. My mom always makes this on Halloween :) Why you may ask? Well, because it's super fun and cute to make little ghosties with the mashed potatoes with little peas as the eyes :) So yummy!! And while you're enjoying this dish, you can feast your eyes upon my various Halloween pics :)

Who Would Have Thought a Liquid Diet Would Make you Need to Potty So Much

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Free stuff rocks!! Kiersten and I both got 2 of these free smoothie cards from Healthy Style Living (just located on 200 North-Burger Alley), so we grabbed Ben and used em up!
It's a pretty good deal! They gave us this aloe-vera drink (it was interesting), some tea (they were sure to mention that the 70 approved of the raspberry and lemon haha) that... well let's just say Kiersten had to choke mine down for me :P, and a DELICIOUS protein shake! I got the Dulce de Leche :D Those were so good! So filling though. Anyways, if you go there, I would recommend the smoothie. So worth it! Oh, but if you do this free thing, make sure you're near a toilet for the next couple hours, because you just drank a ton of stuff and WILL need to take a trip to the bathroom a couple times in a row. Ha.

Not So Great, Great Value

Ya. Never will I EVER use a Great Value recipe again. This is what happens.
Ok, so these don't LOOK that bad, but they are. The insides are barely done and the edges are crispy, crispy. This was the first batch. The second batch was worse. The bottoms and edges were charcoal and the middles were still raw dough. What. The heck?? The same thing happened once last year!
See?? Except the edges were so much more burnt this time :P Lame. Apparently they were still delicious though, so I'll eat em! Just aren't pretty :P So ya. Let me repeat. I will NEVER EVER use a Great Value recipe again.

Applesauce Chocolate Chip Cookies

What a freakin AWESOME weekend!! Holy cow, so fun. Wanna hear about it? :)
K, so Friday, Ben and I got to go and spend the day in St. George after classes! We visited my amazing family, went to the fastest temple trip ever (those baptistery workers let no time waste!), then went to the amazingly, fantastically, and wondrously delicious Sweet Tooth Fairy for some heavenly cupcakes! Ya. I will own one of those (or my own shop like it) one day.
Saturday, boyfriend, friends, and I wanted to go make breakfast at Ben's grandparent's lot up the canyon. Well, it was freakishly rainy yesterday, so when we got up there, of course all the wood was soaking wet, so a fire was impossible to make haha
But that didn't stop us from enjoying the absolutely gorgeous fall leaves and weather up there :)

But we were still all starving, so we went back to mine and Kiersten's house and made a great breakfast with eggs, hash browns, blueberry Belgian waffles, sourdough bread w/ nuttela (drooooool. SO good.), and orange juice :)

And what a better way to work off that filling breakfast than with some Just Dance 3??
After a great Saturday Stake Conference session, there was a party in our house haha It was sweet! So Kiersten and I had already decided we would cheat our Friday rule, so a few friends and I made Applesauce Chocolate Chip cookies! Holy flippin bananas. These are so good. And they make so many!!!! It was awesome :)
What were the rest of the bajillion people in our house doing? Learning freakin legit line dances from this crazy good dancer, Thaddeus. If only pictures could capture exactly how awesome this dudes dancing skills are!
See? I told you it was a great weekend :)
